Earlier style PLC Gateway (PLCG). The PLCG provides a link between the LCN and programmable controllers (PLC).  The PLCG has two ports, each port allowing up to 16 PLCs.  Two or more PLCG can be connected to the same Hiway.  The PLCG scans the PLCs testing for alarms and failures.
